Today's Music Weird rounds up many-if not most-of the Easter songs and novelties that were recorded in the 1940s and 1950s. A number of those recordings were Easter novelties, many of which barely have been heard since their original release. Some of the most prolific purveyors of Easter songs were Gene Autry, Rosemary Clooney, and Jimmy Boyd.Įaster has passed, but I started thinking about Easter songs because of the previous Music Weird post about the flood of recordings by child performers in 1953. In reality, a lot of obscure Easter songs exist, many of which were recorded by major artists. "Easter Parade" and "Peter Cottontail" are probably the best-known ones. You might think that the compilation was padded out of necessity, because how many Easter songs are there, really? Unlike Christmas, Easter doesn't have many well-known songs. Known for its thoroughness and attention to detail, Bear Family usually has the last word on reissues of vintage American music, but this compilation mostly missed the mark by presenting miscellaneous non-holiday songs about chickens and rabbits instead of songs about Easter.

Enchanted Tales with Belle (Reopening in 2022).Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The original Roger Rabbit opening script was used in this version but with the "Magic Kingdom" replaced with "Tokyo Disneyland". Unlike the Florida version and like with many special event Parades, this version includes a show stop. Only had three floats, one holding Minnie, Donald, and Pluto, the second holding Mickey himself with many Mickey figures on it, and the third being clock-themed with Goofy, Roger Rabbit, and Chip and Dale. The original script for the opening announcement had Roger Rabbit but had him replaced with Max to avoid trouble with Steven Spielberg.Ī similar version of the parade ran from April to October 1995, as part of a Tokyo Disneyland special event of the same name. The final float Mickey stands on closes the parade.

Jiminy Cricket, Cogsworth, the White Rabbit, and Tick-Tock the Crocodile walk behind it. The next one is a clock-themed unit where Chip and Dale toy around with the clocks. Aladdin and Jasmine once showed up walking in front of it. The next float has Minnie Mouse clad in a 1980's rap star attire rapping along. The Bandar-Log sometimes appears as well. Tigger, Snow White, and Dopey hold Mickey puppets while walking behind it. Peter Pan, Wendy, Alice, the Mad Hatter, Pinocchio, and Smee ride on tricycles. The next one features many characters from various Disney properties. Launchpad McQuack also appears solely on this unit during the 1995 rendition of the Easter parade.Īnother float is a balloon themed float with Goofy and Max. Bikers often jump off the ramps and do stunts. The parade starts with Donald, Pluto, and Roger Rabbit on a beach-themed float with the Mickey Mania logo on it. Mickey Mania Parade is a former daytime parade that ran at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom from June 1994 to September 1996 and Tokyo Disneyland in 1995.
